About Us

Staff: Mrs. Bonnie Fulmer is the Library Media Specialist for the Senator Jay P. Rolison, Jr. Library at Spackenkill High School. She taught English for ten years before earning her MLS and becoming the High School Librarian in 1988.  She is assisted by two aides, who provide student supervision and assistance.

Contact: The Library and its staff encourage interested and concerned participation in our activities. Recommendations for materials and suggestions for improvements are welcomed. Mrs. Fulmer may be reached by telephone at 845.463.7810 or via email at Bonnie.Fulmer@spackenkillschools.org.

Visiting: The High School Library is open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each school day. Students may visit the Library freely before and after school, or during lunch periods and study halls with a pass. Students will also spend class time in the Library Media Center performing research for various subject area classes. Instruction is delivered by both classroom teachers and the library media specialist.

Borrowing: The loan period for most materials is three weeks, and renewals are usually available. Students receive weekly overdue notices in homeroom, followed by a letter sent home to parents after the third notice. After four overdue notices for a given item, the student may be asked to provide payment for a replacement copy and its processing.

Student Responsibilities: A student's presence in the library indicates purposeful quiet work: doing homework, studying, reading, searching for and using materials, browsing independently for supplementary reading, etc.

Home Access: Home access to library media center resources is available through the Spackenkill High School Library website. Some subscription databases may require access codes which are available in printed form from the Library Media Center. Please contact us about any problems with accessing resources from home.
