Jump Rope for Heart

Hagan Elementary Students Jump toward a Healthier Heart!
If you looked in on
Students from Miss Spiegel’s classes (K-2) and students from Ms. Minogue’s classes (3-5) worked as a team for three days in an effort to jump to better health and a healthy heart. Some of the stations that the students participated in during the Jump Rope for Heart Event included Dance, Dance Revolution, Twister Moves, jump ropes, hippity hops and skip its just to name a few.
In an attempt to connect healthy eating with physical activity, students got to choose either a piece of orange or a banana on their way out of the gym each time they participated in the Jump Rope for Heart stations. This gave students the much-needed energy that they needed after completing several Jump Rope for Heart stations in just forty minutes. Several parent volunteers helped at the snack and water station throughout the event. Thank you to all of our parent volunteers!
Not only did this event help raise heart disease awareness and heart disease prevention awareness, it also helped raise funds that will go to the American Heart Association. The American Heart Association will put these funds towards cardiovascular disease research as well as the fight against diabetes and obesity. Jump Rope for Heart is a great way for our students to make the connection between daily, physical activity and healthy lives! Thank you to all of the families who donated to the American Heart Association and thank you to all of the students who participated in the Jump Rope for Heart Event!
